What commercial site needs to be down for days for an update?

'Notification From DVD Pacific

All customers please be advised that we are currently closed while
undergoing some restructuring and updating.
This is expected to last for approximately the next 48 hours at which
time the site will be reopened and re-launched with some exciting
changes and improvements.

Please stand-by!'

They just had a big sale, too. I ordered quite a few titles from them a couple of weeks
ago. I have been notified that they have shipped, I hope they arrive here!

Still down. I've been wanting to order some CDs from cdpacific.
I've never seen an established commercial web site go down for days just
for a supposed upgrade.

Hi

I rang their number this morning and got "no space for recording" and press
2 for another ext. or 0 for reception.

I pressed 0 and got no answer.

Looks like they are gone. Pitty such a good company.

Like the saying, all good things must come to the end. Maybe the owners sold
the business or something?

With the American economic situation, who knows?
I wish they would update the notice on the website.

Hi

I'm not sure if anyone has heard, but Brad Searle (the former owner of
DVDPACIFIC) has sold the business due to a serious illness and the
effects of the recession biting hard. Rumour has it the business was
sold to Alliance (a DVD supplier who supplies both DVDPACIFIC and
DEEPDISCOUNT). As people claim, they have moved to NJ. I'm not sure
what's happening with DVDPACIFIC's website, I believe the name will
still remain the same, but new people will be running it and the
website will look very very different (and probably not like we're
used to seeing in the past - when they get it up and going). I'm not
sure how competitive the new owners will be on pricing or what their
service will be like - for now I've been using DeepDiscount, but would
like the name of a reputable DVD store I can use as an alternative,
with excellent customer service and competitive pricing on multiple
items to Australia

I've already posted the actual letter in this newsgroup.
They are being plain deceptive with the web site now. No indication
that they have any idea how to continue doing anything for customers.

the new site www.faqrecords.com don't ship overseas it would appear -
these are the new people who have taken DVDPACIFIC over... i'm under
the impression that this is what the new site looks like run by the
facrecords crowd - so DVDPACIFIC is finished.
