Sometimes the blank DVDs fail when I try to burn them.

Is there any software which can scan and OK these before I
do the burn step?

Please help, PJ

If they fail the scan test what are you going to do, take them
back to the store?

*Whoosh* ... imagine this scenario: the OP buys a spindle of 50 recordable
DVDs; 3 fail the imaginary "scan test". Is there any point, any point at
all, to take them back to the store and ask for another 3 DVDs? No there
isn't. The correct response is to throw them in the bin and write on the
47 working DVDs. Furthermore, since there's nothing you can do with a
dud DVD, there's no point running a "scan test". Just burn the DVD, and
if it doesn't work then throw it away and burn another. There's probably
no way to tell if a DVD can be burned successfully other than burning it.

Nick.
